ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION IN THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AREA

The present work aims to present a research covering the ABNT NBR ISO 14001: 2015 certification in Brazil, especially in the field of waste management, involving collection, treatment and disposal of waste, as well as material recovery and decontamination and other services, based on data from INMETRO. When carrying out the survey and analysis, it established relationships between the certified companies, their location and the certified bodies. This way, it was found 46 companies in Brazil that are certified by ISO 14001, the southeast presented a higher concentration especially the state of São Paulo with 61% of the certifications, followed by Paraná with 15%. On the other hand, the other states presented low or no participation in the ranking. When relating the number of companies to the certifying body, attest to eight active certified entities that operate in the waste management business, with emphasis on BRTUV, which totals 20 certified companies, approximately 43%. A solid waste management union with the ISO 14001 standard allows companies to be able to control the environmental effects of the entire production process, from the choice of raw material to the final destination of the product and waste. Therefore, a search for certification to increase, since, the certificate is able to increase the registration, decrease the cost and allow the opening of the national and international market.
