Abstract

Pig manure (DS) and cassava bagasse (BM) are important waste of the regional agroindustry, of high demand and of high environmental impact, but which can be benefited in anaerobic co-digestion (Co-DA), to better promote your final direction. An applicable method of Co-DA of DS e BM has been little reported. Therefore, this work aimed at the anaerobic co-digestion of DS and BM, as a substrate for biogas production. For this, batch experiments were carried out at 37 ºC, varied and concentrated in total concentrations (ST) of BM, in 4, 6, 8, 10%, in comparison to the control, including only DS, which was used with inoculum paper and substrate. The results showed that there was no great performance of the reactors containing BM, only the reactor containing 4% of ST, stood out a little from the control, but not very significantly, with a maximum production of 118,39 mL CH4 g SV-1 for 108,40 mL mL CH4 g SV-1 of the control. Thus, it can be ascertained that it was possible to produce methane from the Co-DA of DS with BM, but that possibly due to the high demand for organic load available in the co-substrate, there was an imbalance in the process, due to excess of volatile fatty acids, which reduced the pH and inhibited better methane production performances. In view of the development of future works, these can be carried out to improve the balance of the Co-DA process, using buffering solutions, which help to control the alkalinity of the middle one.
