ENVIRONMENTAL PERCEPTION OF SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT: CASE STUDY OF THE RESIDENTIAL VILLAGE OF TUCURUÍ - PA

The objective of this work was to make a diagnosis of the environmental perception of the residents of the Residential Village of Eletronorte, referring to the generation, destination and final disposal of solid waste. Recent researches show that one of the ways to minimize the negative environmental impacts from the generation of these residues is through environmental perception and education. Initially, a participatory exploratory survey was conducted as well as the diagnosis of the environmental perception of the residents of the residential village about the management of solid waste. In general the survey pointed out that the conditions of collection and final disposal of the residential village presents good working conditions and the users are satisfied, and they realize the importance of environmental issues related to the generation of waste. Regarding solid waste generation, most of them are willing to participate in educational projects aimed at solid waste management.
