Technologies for generating energy from solid waste are increasingly being used in the world for the treatment and generation of energy. In Brazil, if we consider some recent legislation, it is perceived that the country intends to open the way for the implementation of such technologies. Thus, the general objective of this article is to investigate whether the municipalities in the Integrated Development Region of the Federal District have the profile for the implementation of technologies aimed at the energy recovery of waste. To carry out this article, documentary research was used, carried out from the Municipal and District Solid Waste Management Plans of the chosen municipalities and from the data made available on the Ministry of the Environment platform called the National Solid Waste System. In conclusion, it is verified that there is certain feasibility of implementing waste-to-energy technologies in the Federal District and, partially, in the municipalities of Luziânia and Formosa. It also highlights the need for greater investment in obtaining information for the management of solid waste in Brazil and the promotion of public policies that work on the reduction of solid waste, as well as recycling in the country.
